Artist’s Statement
I began painting in watercolor and oil years ago. Yet, I started my career as a fiber artist, using color, texture, and dimension to shape my art. I continue to combine those elements in my paintings today. When I look at my body of work, I see fragments of time or moments that touched me emotionally. Currently, I am particularly interested in how a moment, image or item inspires me. It could range from an ordinary stack of coffee cups or a flower, to a wave crashing over a rocky coast in Maine or a vibrantly colored evening sky. Through paint, I can create movement, and highlight the play of light and shadow to bring life to my paintings. All of my works together are truly a mosaic of my life.
