Artist’s Statement

I have been a professional artist for 15 years but have loved creating art from the time I could pick up a crayon and use glue. I believe that creating art involves much more than learning techniques. It takes into account your individual vision and all of life’s influences and blends them into your own ongoing, unique style of creativity. For me, vivid color and rich, textured surfaces are key elements in my artwork whether I’m working in abstract or representational images. I love building multiple layers using acrylic paint, collage and sometimes resin to create mixed media paintings, wall sculptures, and greeting cards. Over the last year, I’ve started incorporating my work into artful home furnishings such as table tops, mirrors and clocks. I enjoy every part of the creative process from developing the idea to utilizing different materials and trying new techniques.

Since 2002 I’ve been a member/owner of the Artists’ Own Gallery in Lafayette, IN. I have exhibited locally and nationally in juried shows, galleries and art fairs. My artwork can be found in private and public collections. I was born, raised and currently live in Lafayette but have traveled extensively and lived throughout the U.S. and Europe.
